Since 1961, the Munchenhof is the place to be for young and old. What started as a party venue has become the social point of the “westhoek”. See history:
1961: Grandfather Hubert Ghekiere built the party venue in the heart of the village and opened it’s doors to thousands of “party animals”. It started with general gigs and ended up with known bands that people would come especially to see.
1963: The venue extends with two bowling allies and one of the biggest youth hostels which consists of 25 rooms.
1970: The bowling is moved to the café area and extended from 2 allies to 4. The times of gigs and known bands are over, Discos (nightclub) are now the height of the night!
1979: Parents Roger and Marie-Rose take over the business.
1980: Alongside the parties, the hostel, the bowling and the café, we started the self-catering service.
1984: The biggest change was made. The venue was transformed in to one big nightclub. Dirk Vandecasteele was the club’s DJ for 10 years and saw to it that “weekly full house” had a night to remember.
1992: A cocktail bar was added on to the complex. The self-catering business has also more than quadrupled.
1995: Hubert and Nathalie take the business over.
1996: The nightclub is given a new look.
1999: The nightclub becomes a thing of the past and is transformed into a large venue with 500 seats for weddings, receptions, meetings, expositions, fashions shows and many other events. As well as all this, a second super modern kitchen which meets all the HACCP terms (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points,) has been added.
2000: The Munchenhof freshens up.
2001: Due to continuous lack of space, we extend with an extra 25 rooms which gives us a capacity to sleep a 120 guests.
2002: The courtyard and garden are given a new look.
2003: The other kitchen fully renewed
2004: café is given a new look and the bowling renewed.
2005: shortage of electricity as our establishment gets bigger! We invest in our very own power cabin.
2006: update our menu showing in which communities we deliver. Since January 2006 we are also known in Roeselare and it’s surroundings.
2007: With an increase to our catering business, we renew our kitchen.
End 2007: We start to demolish the hostel and start again from scratch.
2008: We completely rebuild and everything is given a super new look. Even the reception is renewed. Everything is more spacious and in comparison to how it use to be, it is no longer recognisable. Blok 2 is also freshened up.
Our catering business only expands. We now also cover Veurne.
2009: We are unstoppable! Now we also cover Wervik and Menen.

Ofcourse we can’t forget about Block 2 which is behind the youth hostel! Block 1 expands and will be given a whole new look.
2010: We plan to renovate the facade, develop sport fields, and renew our garden. Again we expand our catering business and we install a new kitchen.
As of 2010, we will also cover Handzame, Koekelare Gits, De Panne and Koksijde.
